Here’s why Adobe Behance added support for Solana NFTs

Adobe Behance has announced that users can now view Solana’s non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on their profiles, after connecting their Phantom wallet to a Behance account. Phantom is a Solana wallet designed for decentralized applications as well as for NFTs.

For starters, Behance is an Adobe-owned platform where artists can showcase their original work and discover other creative work as well. On Behance, users can view their work in the form of NFTs. There is also no limit to the number of photos/media that users can upload. The Behance platform is free for creative professionals across disciplines.

Initially, creators on Behance could only view NFTs minted on the Ethereum blockchain. NFTs are digital assets that run on blockchain technology. In order to create or “issue” a new NFT, you have to pay something called a “gas fee” to get your NFTs registered in the distributed blockchain database. There are different types of Blockchain available but the most widely used is the Ethereum blockchain, because it is more efficient than any other Blockchain protocols.

Behance wants to address the problems of creators who have to pay high fees for an NFT instrument. Therefore, the company is adding Solana to its infrastructure due to lower gas charges, the protocol states. A user minting an NFT on the Ethereum blockchain may have to pay up to $10 while in Solana the same NFT can be minted for $0.00025 per transaction.

Adobe Vice President William Allen explained on Twitter that many Behance users have concerns about the power usage of Ethereum and the high transaction costs. He thinks Solana handles this. “One deal on Solana
It uses less power than two google searches and costs a fraction of a penny. While they are working towards full decentralization, the lower energy use and transaction fees is a real innovation.”

Earlier, Adobe also partnered with NFT marketplaces such as Rarible, OpenSea, KnownOrigin, and SuperRare so that original artworks are credited to their respected owners. Allen added on Twitter that Solana titles will be added to Photoshop’s Content Credentials tool to ensure NFT’s work is not stolen and credit is given to legitimate artists.
