Nintendo DS recreated with foldable phone and emulator

Someone recently converted their foldable phone into a Nintendo DS thanks to a simulation. Nintendo fans have always been some of the most creative players out there. Not only are they finding ways to show their passion for Nintendo and their IPs outside of games via cosplay and even realistic versions of Mario Kart, but they’ve also been able to find ways to bring Nintendo games to other platforms. Games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild made their way to PC via emulation and it looks like a fan has found a clever way to replicate the Nintendo DS on another console.

Tech YouTuber Izzy Nobre I realize that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 can be used to emulate a Nintendo DS, so I launched a Pokemon game and it worked as one would hope. With the foldable phone, he was able to get a similar experience to the Nintendo DS, but Nobre noted that he thinks an actual Nintendo device is the best way to play games like this. He also noted that the emulator he used is Drastic, which shows the actual exterior of the DS, so it doesn’t use the screen exclusively for gameplay. While the actual Nintendo DS is the better option, it’s still great to see the same functionality that the DS can have on mobile.

With the Nintendo DS not quite a fit anymore, it’s good to know that there are still ways to play its games on the go in a somewhat fun and efficient way. The Z Fold3 is an expensive phone, so it would be cheaper to buy a Nintendo DS online and play it that way, but for those with a foldable phone, that’s a nice bonus. It looks like the Nintendo Switch will be the way of the future for Nintendo, so DS fans probably won’t see a successor anytime soon.
