The Los Angeles Rams chose to trade veteran wide receiver Robert Woods to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a late-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Los Angeles Rams have enjoyed the offseason so far after winning 56 Super Bowls. To kick off the league’s new year, the Rams signed one of the league’s top free agents on former Chicago Bears player Allen Robinson. On Saturday, the team moved on from the veteran in the position.
According to Ian Rapoport, an NFL network insider, the Rams traded Robert Woods to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a 2023 sixth-round pick.
Rams trades Robert Woods with the Titans
Woods was saved by Los Angeles due to the team signing Robinson to a three-year, $45 million contract. The Giants needed a new wide receiver after the team cut Julio Jones after an injury-plagued 2021 campaign. Thus, an agreement was reached between the two teams.
The Rams signed Woods in league year 2017, and he’s been a consistent and consistent presence in Shawn McVeigh’s attack over the years. But in the middle of the 2021 season, Woods suffered a rupture in the AFC Champions League after nine games. From there, the offense centered around Cooper Cope and late-season signing Odell Beckham Jr. The Rams won the Super Bowl while Woods was sidelined.
In his four years in Los Angeles, Woods captured 367 of his 552 goals for 4,626 yards and 23 touchdowns from 68 games (67 starts).
As mentioned earlier, the team tried to add Jones in its attack this past season after trading in the 2022 second round and 2023 fourth to the Atlanta Falcons. Jones played in just 10 games, collecting 31 of 48 passes for 434 yards and one touchdown.
Now, Tennessee is acquiring Woods, who has held the WR-2 position on the team depth chart behind AJ Brown.
