The report says the revamped MacBook Air may be delayed until later this year

You’ll have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the new MacBook Air, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gorman. Gorman, writing via his weekly PowerOn newsletter, said Apple plans to launch the revamped MacBook Air later in the year. He had initially suggested that a MacBook Air update could come in the middle of 2022.

Although Apple has not acknowledged the existence of the new MacBook Air, analysts and tech insiders do, and it is expected to launch in 2022. Apple had previously planned to unveil a brand new MacBook Air at the end of 2021 or early 2022, but It appears that the time frame has now shifted to the second half of 2022.

The delay raises questions about Apple’s marketing strategy. Apple’s annual developer conference is seen as an ideal place to launch devices like the MacBook Air, which keeps developers excited about a new product. If Apple plans to release a new MacBook Air at the end of 2022, the device will likely hit retail shelves only in October or November.

The launch of the new MacBook Air is exciting on many levels. Apple’s most successful Mac, aimed at students and regular consumers, needs a major revamp. Judging by the leaks, the new MacBook Air will have Flat edge design for a more consistent fit. One of the biggest rumors about the MacBook Air involves its design, especially the colors. The new notebook is said to come in a wide color gamut, similar to the M1 iMac. Rumors also say that there will be a crack on the screen. Apart from the new design, the upcoming MacBook Air will also get an all-new M2 processor and MagSafe technology.

Perhaps the most surprising rumor to date is that the name ‘Air’ has been dropped and switched to Simple name “MacBook”. That would make a lot of sense, as it makes the MacBook naming convention compatible with devices like the iPhone and iPad.

Separately, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the new MacBook Air to be launched either in the second quarter or early third quarter of 2022, noting that the launch will occur around the same time as the iPhone 14.

Apple last updated the MacBook Air with the M1 chipset in 202 degrees.
