moon knight It’s the next project from Marvel Studios, and all indications are that the series is the studio’s most unique property to date. While the show takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even the filmmakers behind the show say it’s arguably the least connected thing out of the entire stable. Just because it doesn’t necessarily have the same connective tissue as other Marvel projects, though, doesn’t mean it doesn’t have much inspiration. fact, moon knight Lead writer Jeremy Slater suggests that the show was largely inspired by Ghostbusters And the Indiana Jonestwo of the biggest franchises in the history of pop culture.
During the series’ red carpet premiere Tuesday night, Slater said that Marvel expected someone to introduce the character as a Batman-type character. Instead, he wanted to go in a different direction.
“I came and wanted to go with Raiders of the Lost Astronomy. I want to see some Ghostbusters. I want to bring some horror into the MCU and some scary monsters, and really push that circumstance as far as possible,” Slater told Variety on the red carpet. Kevin [Feige] And Marvel have been very supportive of that, so we kind of used Kevin as our primary test in terms of figuring out if that’s something we should fall back on. “
That was never the case, Slater continued, and studio managers always wanted to move forward with whatever room they decided was best.
“At every turn he really pushed us to tell the best story and not worry about holding back or pulling the punches,” the writer added. “It’s definitely still for all ages, and that was important to us. We didn’t want to make something inaccessible to a large portion of the MCU fan base and we know people watch these shows with their kids and families, but I was like ‘Let’s get PG-13’ As much as possible!”
The next Marvel project is moon knightwhich takes place at Disney+ on March 30th.
