Wendy Williams responds to Wells Fargo’s guardianship petition

TV personality Wendy Williams posted a video on Wednesday pressuring her bank, Wells Fargo, to freeze her accounts pending a guardianship ruling in New York.

Williams, whose legal name is Wendy Hunter, has spoken to fans on Instagram regarding the ongoing legal battle for access to her personal money. In the video, Williams accuses her former Wells Fargo financial advisor of starting the process after “Williams started asking questions about my money”.

“Lori Schiller and Wells Fargo have this guardianship petition about keeping me out of my money,” Williams said. “It’s not right, you know, it’s not fair.”

She also alleged that Schiller was allowed access to her medical records from a former physician, whom Williams said she has since fired, which are used to justify a guardianship petition.

Williams ended the video by asking, “Please let me have access to my money.”

Wells Fargo on Thursday declined to comment to NBC News on the matter.

at Statement for variety Last month, a representative for Wells Fargo said his priority is Williams’ well-being and “preserving her privacy.”

“As we have made clear to the court, Wells Fargo is open to working with Ms. Williams’ attorneys to release funds directly to her creditors against historically and regularly paid bills from her accounts,” the statement said.

Schiller did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

An attorney representing Wells Fargo has asked the company’s petition to be filed with a seal, according to a February 9 letter obtained by NBC News. The letter confirmed that Wells Fargo had temporarily suspended Williams’ account of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or FINRA, Rule 2165under the justification that the company suspects that Williams is a “victim of undue influence and financial abuse”.

Williams’ attorney, Lachon Thomas, denied the accusations that Williams’ physical or mental health had harmed her ruling in a statement issued last month. Thomas alleged that Wells Fargo also denied access to Williams’ son, who is her legal agent.

“I spoke to several bank representatives and even went to a local branch and discussed the matter with the bank managers, as clear evidence that there were no concerns about her mental state,” Thomas said at the time. “In fact, the alleged Wells Fargo suspicions were not raised until Wendy announced that she no longer wanted to bank in Wells Fargo due to the bank’s mishandling of her complaints against her advisor.”

In an affidavit dated February 11, Williams alleged that she had defaulted on several bills as a result of the account freeze.

Williams has Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disease that causes the body to mistake certain cells in the body as foreign. It often attacks the cells of the eye and thyroid gland as a result.

She also said, in 2019, that she was diagnosed with lymphedema, a disease that causes swelling in the body caused by a blockage in the lymphatic system, according to Mayo Clinic.

she For ABC “Good Morning America” Last week she was ready to act again soon, despite her show being canceled earlier this year. A new show hosted by Sherri Shepherd will replace her Chronology.

“They say I need someone to handle my account. I don’t want that,” Williams told GMA. “I want all my money. I want to see all my money that I have worked so hard all my life. My whole life. I don’t lie, I don’t cheat and I don’t steal. I am an honest and hardworking person.”
