WWE It announced that it will honor Chad Gaspard, who tragically passed away in 2020, with the 2022 Warrior Award, which will take place during WrestleMania Week’s Hall of Fame Gala. The Warrior Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated unwavering strength and perseverance and lives life with courage and compassion that embodies the indomitable spirit of The Ultimate Warrior, and Gaspard could not be more appropriate to that description. The Warrior Award will be part of the Hall of Fame induction ceremony and will take place on April 1, and the ceremony will be broadcast on Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network internationally.
Gaspard was swimming with his son and they were swimming together when a wave of wind drew them hundreds of meters from the shore. A rescue team jumped in to help but because of the waves they could only help one by one, and that’s when Gaspard asked them to save his son first. The team rescued his son but before they could return to help Gaspard, he was overwhelmed by another wave. He was later found but already tragically passed away.
Gaspard was loved by those who knew and worked with him, including during his days as part of WWE, where he was part of the crime genre’s tag team alongside JTG. After several years with WWE, he continued to wrestle on the independent circuit while also appearing in films such as Get Hard, Brothers, and Birds of Prey.
