After becoming one of the most popular young stars in all of entertainment, Daniel Radcliffe has made an effort to stay away from roles like the ones that made him famous. Many knew him as Harry Potter, but the last decade of the actor’s career showed how broad his scope really is.
In the new Radcliffe movie, the lost City, the former wizard hero plays an eccentric billionaire who wants to steal an ancient artifact as a way to attach it to the rest of his family. This character is different from many of the characters Radcliffe has played in the past, which has become the subject of Radcliffe projects recently.
“I think now at this point, I’m known to be kind of weird about the things I want to do, which is nice and weird, but weird, which is cool,” Radcliffe told ComicBook.com exclusively. Interview. “But overall, I think the way I saw it after Potter was that for everyone who only saw me as one thing, there was someone who was excited about the opportunity to show it to me as something else. You know, there are some directors who are going to be like, ‘Oh, it’s Harry Potter.’ Just,” and some directors would say, “Oh, I’d like to reinvent it in a way that works for the world.” So, you know, things go both ways.”
Radcliffe’s character in the lost City It’s by no means among the weirdest parts the actor has played throughout his career, but it’s one of the only times the public has seen him as a villain. At the premiere of the movie the lost CityRadcliffe told us he had a great time playing on the other side of the moral fence.
“Oh dear, it was great,” said the actor. “He’s evil, he’s also evil still desperate to be loved by the people he kidnapped, and it’s a tough line to walk as a captor. But yeah, I found there was something pathetic about him and it was a tremendous amount of fun to play. To be able to play in front of Sandra [Bullock]I grew up watching her movies and working with her was so weird, scary, but incredibly cool.”
