The end of the afternoon is approaching The Amazing Spider-Man Number 93, a preview of the case showing a fight between Peter Parker and his clone Ben Reilly. Spider-Man Beyond sets out with Peter Parker at the hospital as he recovers from serious battle line injuries. Ben Riley stepped up to replace Peter, gaining the support of the Beyond Foundation. Ben received a new Spider-Man costume, a shed to live in, and a team dedicated to watching his back in Daughters of the Dragon (Misty Knight and Colleen Wing). Recent developments have left Ben without his implanted memories of Peter’s childhood, leaving him over the edge.
Peter has fully recovered from his injuries and is back at work, as a preview of The Amazing Spider-Man #93 Writer Zip Wells and artist Patrick Gleeson finds him inside Beyond headquarters when he confronts Ben. Spidey’s version required Peter to put a broken helmet over his head. Ben then begins to get angry, noting that the voice in his head that sounds like Peter has disappeared. The preview ends with Ben Reilly delivering the big left to Peter Parker. It’s unknown what Marvel has in store for Ben Reilly going forward, but the publisher quipped that Ben’s time as Spider-Man “could be the beginning of something else…”
Marvel is relaunching the Amazing Spider-Man with the new creative team of Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr. In April to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the web channel. Spider-Man Editor Nick Lowe said: “Spider-Man doesn’t turn 60 every year, and we go wild with this run cramming the biggest WTF moments Spidey has ever had. Zeb and JRJR will go down in history as one of the best teams Absolutely creative!”
