Can Jake Paul defeat Conor McGregor in an MMA fight?

Jake Paul is once again a hot topic in the media with a pledge to KO Conor McGregor in his first MMA match.

Jake Paul has been a trending topic in the media a few times over the past few years, and not usually for good reasons. Paul is currently making a statement to the UFC that he wants his first MMA fight to be against Conor McGregor, and believes he will win.

Although this might sound like a crazy idea, Paul is actually challenging McGregor for good reason. Paul is a staunch advocate of UFC fighter pay raises, and he wants to cut a deal with UFC President Dana White to increase the fighter’s pay if he beats McGregor.

“If I win, Dana has to increase the minimum wage for the fighter. If I lose, they can take all the money and anything, and so on. But I know I can beat Connor” Paul told TMZ.

Can Jake Paul defeat Conor McGregor?

There are a lot of factors to consider when dissecting the big question of whether or not Paul has a chance to beat McGregor. McGregor suffered a fractured fibula and tibia last summer during a fight against Dustin Poirier that required surgery. He slowly got back into the fight and was now confident he could make it back, even though he hadn’t fully recovered yet.

“April, they said I could fight again and I could basically box again. So I’ll take it day in and day out. I hope, now, as soon as I’m back sparring, I’ll know the weight, I’ll know the feeling, and I’ll know my own style. You know what I mean?” McGregor told SevereMMA. “I’m going to be developing a different style, I imagine, so I’ve been playing Shadowbox lately and I feel like I’m taking on myself. But I feel good. I’m on my feet, I can stop and start and take off. It’s just little fluctuations or torque, which I have to be careful about.” But this will be here today, tomorrow the kind of thing in my head is gone. The bones will recover, they will call themselves again and it will be as if it never happened.”

Under the circumstances, Paul believes he can beat McGregor. Paul seems to view McGregor’s injury as an advantage in believing he can defeat McGregor.

“He doesn’t realize that Connor and I are weighing the exact same thing now,” he said. Paul told TMZ. “Connor walks around on 190, I walk around on 190. I can beat Connor, and people think, ‘Oh, that kid’s crazy,’ and yeah, I’m like [of course]That’s why I got this far. That’s because I’m crazy, I believe in myself, and Connor is in a downward spiral. All of his limbs are broken, so a standing match is going to take him out in the first round.”

Paul may have a chance of beating an injured McGregor, but his celebration won’t be as much as he celebrates beating McGregor in his best of health.

What would it mean for the UFC if Jake Paul beat Conor McGregor?

The UFC has yet to agree to Paul’s terms of a pay increase, but if they do, all UFC fighters who earn the minimum amount will see a pay increase. Of course, there is a strong possibility that the UFC will ignore this challenge and the fight will not happen at all. In theory, if all goes as Paul wishes, the athletes will be rewarded in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
