If LeBron James can’t make a comeback in at least some of the season’s remaining games, he might not win the scoring title after all.
With the NBA season coming to a close, some unknowns are in focus. There is still a battle between the big men for the MVP nomination, and there are a few teams battling for playing positions, but leaders have emerged throughout the season.
Among them is LeBron James, the league’s top scorer who could make NBA history with another title to score – but none of that will happen if LeBron doesn’t recover from his recent ankle injury.
An injury can affect more than one Lakers playing position: If James does not play in at least 3 of the Lakers’ remaining seven games, he will. no longer eligible for the scoring title this season.

The only way an NBA player can get around this stat minimum is if his average score per game leads the league over the required 58 game cycle, which James wouldn’t do. James’s 1,657 points, divided by 58, would be a 28.6 PPG, which isn’t enough to win the title – now.
If LeBron wants to stay on top in the scoring title race, he’ll need to average at least 27 PPG in his next three matches to beat potential MVP winners Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid.
