Coach K appreciation video featuring Duke Legends should win an Academy Award

Coach K’s appreciation video featuring the many Duke basketball legends is simply incredible.

As Mike Krzyzewski is about to participate in the Final Four, several Duke basketball legends have come together to help create this awesome video to honor Coach K.

It’s basketball roosters. Coach K took this small ACC school and turned it into a national powerhouse. Krzyzewski won five national titles while at Duke, impacting the lives of many youngsters over the past four decades. From Grant Hill to Bobby Hurley to Christian Laettner to his successor Jon Scheyer, Krzyzewski fell into tears while watching this video at Cameron Indoor.

And this video wasn’t just for former Duke players, members of the US men’s basketball team, his three daughters, grandson Michael Savarino and his wife Mickey were part of the Academy Award-winning short film.

Love him or hate him, you can’t deny Krzyzewski’s influence on the basketball game. Several of his former Duke players have gone on to land amazing professional careers. Although Hill, Hurley and Leitner are his three players most closely associated with as they helped him win his first national title, Krzyzewski’s influence is far beyond the reach of his namesake Durham Stadium.

When you see modern NBA icons like Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, and James Harden talk this glowingly about a college coach they never played for in college, you totally get the big picture. When one of his greatest coaching rivals at Michigan State Legend, Tom Izu, appears in the video, you realize his impact on the coaching career as well.

And whether Coach K’s coaching career ends on Saturday against arch-rival North Carolina in New Orleans or as a six-time national champion over the likes of Kansas or Villanova on Monday, his legacy is being cemented. It’s basketball roosters. Krzyzewski has created a brand from seemingly nothing built on excellence. Critics might call them elites. His supporters call that jealousy. is a legend.

Scheyer may have been carefully chosen to replace him, but these shoes will never be filled in.
