PS4 and PS4 Pro players were surprised with a free gift. Unfortunately, if you’re using a PS5 – or any other PlayStation console – you’re bound to miss out on this freebie, as it requires a feature specific to the PS4 and PS4 Pro. Unfortunately, this free gift is not a free game or a free PS Plus subscription or anything substantial, but it is free. More specifically, and if you haven’t already, you can currently redeem Women Theme 2022, which is a free PS4 theme. Which is why the freebie doesn’t extend to PS5, as PS5 doesn’t have themes.
It is not currently clear if the offer is permanent or a limited time offer. These shows usually have an expiration date, but given “2022” in the title, it’s possible that this will be available for redemption throughout the year, possibly even a 2023 release. As for the theme itself, it was designed by Kaye Cao, one of the top animators at PlayStation Studios. And as you might expect, the theme is designed for Women’s History Month 2022.
“As the month-long Women’s History Month 2022 celebration ends today, we would like to continue to celebrate women in gaming through our PlayStation community around the world,” said a PlayStation announcement about the show. “The PlayStation Women 2022 wallpaper has been created by our creative team at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) exclusively for PlayStation 4. The theme is available for free download through the PlayStation Store.”
To download the theme, you’ll need to enter a token, and as you’d expect, these codes vary from region to region. Below you can find these codes provided by Sony itself:
