The Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations will give the entire UK an extra bank holiday in 2022, with a four-day weekend at the start of June.

When is the next bank holiday?
Good Friday, the start of the Easter holiday, is the upcoming bank holiday across the UK, which falls on April 15.
Easter, which falls on April 18, is followed by the end of the weekend.
The Passion – the biblical story of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion at Calvary – is commemorated on Good Friday before Easter, when his resurrection is celebrated.

Why the Queen’s Jubilee Platinum in June?
Although the Queen celebrated the 70th anniversary of her coronation on February 6, she is also the father of her father, King George VI, and therefore there is no need to commemorate her.
Platinum jubilees, such as the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee, are scheduled for the first week of June, with the summer month offering a better setting than the Diamond Jubilee.
The Queen’s rule and influence on the UK and the world since she assumed the throne in 1952 will be commemorated with a series of events taking place from 2-5 June.
