WWE Superstar Debut Reported On SmackDown With Shocking Name Change

Tonight’s highly anticipated episode of WWE SmackDown is set to reveal the fallout from WrestleMania 38 and show the next steps for stars like Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey and more, but according to a new report from WrestleVotes, it will also feature a big name change that could throw fans into the ring. It’s already been reported that some SmackDown debuts were expected soon, specifically in regards to Imperium, so this may be related to them, but this was not confirmed in the report. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait any longer to find out, because SmackDown is launching soon.

WrestleVotes wrote on Twitter, “There’s a name change for one of the stars who debuted tonight on SmackDown, probably the worst yet. Like their hat picked and blindfolded, that’s how they get things here.” The name that immediately comes to mind is Marcel Barthel, the other part of Imperium that has moved to SmackDown according to previous reports. Gunther already had a name change from Walter, so this is probably stuck, so maybe Marcel will also get a one-word name that matches his tag partner.

Other names that come to mind are someone like Raquel Gonzalez or L.A. Knight, two other NXT superstars who have been rumored to have been called up to Raw or SmackDown. It’s not always certain that someone from NXT will get a name change, but it’s very common at least to have it changed or modified as well. Holland’s Ridge kept his full name, but Crowne Knox became Knox while Schutze Black Heart became Schutze when they rose.

Bianca Belair retained her full name as did Damien Priest, and the Austin Theory also retained his full name. Until now, Tommaso Ciampa has kept his full name, but Pete Dunne has been completely abandoned, with WWE introducing him as Butch when he debuted on SmackDown.
