Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged again

For the second time in Hollywood history, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged.

But unlike the first time, after months of dating under the paparazzi watch in 2002, Lopez handled the ad herself. And because it’s 2022, not 20 years ago, news of the couple’s engagement came via Lopez’s newsletter – called On the JLo – where the movie star recorded a video for fans, wearing a green diamond engagement ring. Instead of saying anything specific, she allowed her followers to connect the dots.

Linda, Lopez’s sister, confirmed the news via her Instagram account. (As did Lopez’s representative in a news story to People.)

Lopez and Affleck were among the biggest celebrity couples of the early 2000s. They made two films together – the 2003 romantic comedy “Gigley,” which was bombarded after receiving scathing reviews, and the 2004 film “Jersey Girl.” By the time their second on-screen collaboration, an independent film directed by Kevin Smith, came out in the role of The show back in March, the couple had already announced that they had separated. Despite the lengthy courtship and her nickname “Bennifer” by the tabloids, it was never successful.

But what a difference two decades make. Although Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, married other people — Jennifer Garner for him, Marc Anthony for her — they broke up. In their careers, Affleck won an Academy Award for his production of “Argo” and Lopez made a fortune after a stint as a judge on “American Idol”, which included touring, acting in films, and recording music. A year ago, they found themselves together again, dating in the public eye, but without the same scrutiny from the celebrity press, which has evolved and become less mean since then.

While Twitter cheered their reunion, they made a series of red carpet appearances together, including at the Venice Film Festival in September for Affleck’s role in “The Last Duel,” and at the premiere of “Marry Me,” Lopez’s latest romantic comedy that opened In theaters in February.

And now they seem to live the title of this movie.
