A new date has been set for the return match of Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk.

Last September, Usyk won the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles after a unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. After Usyek returned to his native Ukraine to help defend his country against invading Russian forces, a planned rematch appeared to be in jeopardy, but a rematch now appears set for this year.

While the fight promoters talked about contracting the fight on June 25, sources told that the fight will now begin on July 23.

Speaking to the BBC last month, USIC promoter Krasiok hinted at a late June date for the fight, but it has now been moved to July. Joshua promoters Eddie Hearn and Krasiek are said to be working to confirm the location of the rematch.

Saudi Arabia was mentioned as a potential venue, with Joshua bringing back belts in the country in 2019 when he beat Andy Ruiz Jr. by unanimous decision. However, reports indicate that the fight that could be held in Saudi Arabia has spread widely among boxing fans, who have criticized the decision to conduct a re-competition outside the United Kingdom.

Anthony Joshua’s match against Oleksandr Usyk has been rescheduled for July 23.

After Russia invaded Ukraine earlier this year, the relationship between Usyk and Joshua appeared to be in the military, with Usyk returning to his homeland and defending his homeland. When Russian forces struck Ukraine, Usyk joined the ground defense team, following in the footsteps of fellow boxers, Ladimir Klitschko, Vitali Klitschko, and Vasily Lomachenko, who took charge.

He recently secured permission to acquire Ukrain in order to prepare to get back together with Joshua, allowing negotiations over fighting exits to resume. In the return, Usyk will defend his career record 19-0, which extended to 19-0 in September, while Joshua is now 24-2.
