Ben Schwartz Shares His Funny ‘Test Video’

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Now in cinemas, the sequel sees Ben Schwartz reprising his role as Sega’s iconic blue blur. In honor of the film’s release, Schwartz and Comedy Central have released a new video for the actor’s “audition” for the role with producer Josh Horowitz. The video runs over five minutes and is somewhat ironic, as Horowitz displays little knowledge about the character and Schwartz’s duties by engaging in a number of degrading activities. If you want to see Schwartz in a full Sonic costume, this is a must!

At one point in the video, Horowitz indicated that he did not want to appoint Schwartz for the role of Sonic, and instead planned to give him Gardens and recommendation Co-starring Chris Pratt. The joke is a clear reference to Pratt’s leading role in the upcoming Super Mario movie Illumination, and it’s one that most video game fans are sure to appreciate! The video finale also sees Schwartz attempting a number of additional video game movie roles, including Mario, Duke Nukem, and even Tetromino.

Of course, Schwartz ended up playing Sonic, and the actor has done an excellent job resurrecting the character over the past few years! While many voice actors have portrayed Sonic in animations and games, it’s clear that Schwartz has a great passion for the character, and that shows up in both films. Paramount has big plans for the future of the Sonic franchise, with a third movie already announced, and the Knuckles spin-off slated to debut on Paramount+. The future looks very bright for Sonic the Hedgehog, and it’s a safe bet that Schwartz will play a big part in it!
