Tony Khan on WWE and AEW Compete in a Future Bidding War for AEW Superstars

Cody Rhodes arrives in WrestleMania 38 It marks the first major departure from AEW to WWE after several years of the opposite happening repeatedly. Rumors of WWE’s interest in other AEW stars such as MJF, Jade Cargill and Wardlow have surfaced for several months, and in a new interview with ESPN Last week, Tony Kahn addressed this situation, saying he expects a bidding war on some wrestlers.

“Yes, I (expecting a bidding war),” Khan said. “We have a lot of great wrestlers here. I expect there will probably be interest down the road for some of them, because we have such strong performances. I think there is definitely going to be a free-agent movement. The competition. I think it’s great for wrestlers.”

Rhodes himself talked about other AEW stars joining him in WWE during an interview with Ariel Halawani over the weekend at WrestleMania. “The American Nightmare” beat Seth Rollins on his return and is booked to face The Miz on Raw this week.

“I will only give someone honest advice. This might work for someone. This was right for me. I don’t know when the first will be… I think I know who those people are going to be because there are some people who fit this ‘star mode’, I think I know How types can be and when they ask, I will give them the best advice possible. However I can say, the timeline here, at least my first time schedule, is not for the non-committer, you can’t be one foot ahead. It’s a full time commitment. No You get paid to work one day a week. That doesn’t knock anyone. This could be the biggest shock and change. The structure here is positive. It’s a great structure. It’s a little less punk rock, great punk rock, and then you want to play something Else. That’s what I experienced,” Rhodes said.

“When they start coming and talking, I’m sure people will make the transition,” he added. “You’d probably guess some of the people that would come in here, and no doubt, people like Brian (Danielson) and Adam Cole, people would move in there. It’s a healthy thing. It doesn’t look healthy when you watch the show because all we do is talk trash about each other. Which I really hope no one is doing here because he’s lazy, he’s lazy, and you discredit what’s been built and what happened to me. You discredit my credibility and you’re not true in the sense that it doesn’t matter. I’ll always give my best advice because this timeline isn’t for everyone. WWE made it “And WWE and Nick Khan in particular made it so easy. There’s a bus, your family, your wife, your daughter, the red carpet. That red carpet means it’s time to go to work. I’m curious how I’m going to do it, but I’m not going to do it.” I’m never about to take advantage of it. I can only give honest advice because everyone’s way is different.”
