Blue Demon class stacked

Duke basketball recruitment never suffers from losing Coach K until retirement. The Blue Devils 2023 Recruitment class has already been loaded.

After more than 40 years under Mike Krzyzewski, Duke basketball ushered in a new era with John Shire at the helm.

Blue Devils fans need to take a look at the recruiting rankings just to allay any concerns about a relocation.

Scheyer and his staff are already working to ensure that the team will be well-equipped for the future.

No K boss, no Duke recruiting problem: Blue Devils 2023 class stacked

Duke brought in the #1 recruiting class in 2022, for all 247 sports, with three of the top five players scoring. They’re well on their way to taking the top spot for 2023 as well.

As it stands, the Blue Devils are in the first category thanks to recent commitments from Mackenzie Mgbako and Tyrese Proctor. The former is the number 3 player in the country and the biggest junior striker out there. The latter is a five-star combo guard and ranks fourth in his position.

In fact, Duke has five commitments to rank in the Top 30 class. Four of those are the 247Sports five-star compound with Mgbako and Proctor joined by base guard Caleb Foster and shooter Jared McCain. Four-star powerhouse striker Sean Stewart is a four-star candidate but still ranks 29th nationally and fifth in position.

Nobody has more than one five stars let alone four.

Employment rankings are obviously very important. It takes a high-level coach to make a team capable of competing for the national championships. The Blue Devils have had it at Coach K for decades. They are counting on Scheyer while keeping the program on top. Making sure his roster is full of talent is a very good start.
