Cody Rhodes explains when he learned he was leaving AEW

Cody Rhodes was working I tuned an open radio This week, he was asked about the moment he knew he was leaving AEW. Rhodes started 2022 without an AEW contract despite being the TNT Champion and Executive Vice President of Young Promotion. He officially left the company on February 15, then returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 at the beginning of April.

Rhodes recalls “The Loews Hotel in Rosemont by the Allstate Arena. I looked at Brandi and told her” (h/t fight). “The last time I told her something like that was when I told her I was leaving WWE. It kind of did in my mind. I was just sitting there at the bar in the corner booth and I knew. I mentioned it in my Raw interview, and I was really excited to do that kind of interview. It was an easy decision. It was. After the weight and difficulty of what that meant to leave, it was an easy decision in terms of what I needed to do next. I’m so proud of everything. Of every independent I went to, and everyone on earth, I felt it. To the new Japan , To Ring of Honor, To All In, To All Elite Wrestling. To be full on the condition of this clarity for me. I have to control this. Everyone is different. Everyone wants to be the best professional wrestler or the best star. I scored a real goal and I’m in I’m eight and I didn’t get the chance… I had the chance, but I wasn’t ready. I failed to get the chance. Life is more about losing than it is about winning. Getting it is one thing, but I didn’t want to not push it or not try it.”

Rhodes’ last game was in the Chicago area on the November 24th episode of AEW Dynamite When he teamed up with the Death Triangle to take on FTR, Andrade El Idolo, and Malakai Black. He has since explained in a number of interviews why he decided it was time to leave the company he helped create.

“I have chosen to remain silent about my departure from AEW and will keep my word on that,” Rhodes said. diverse. “There is no filming interview. There is no outrageous anecdote to be told. There were all these different theories and none of them were true. I mean, there were things about money and creative control. It was printed as fact and it was very hard to notice for two months, when it was The truth is it’s time. It was a personal matter and we couldn’t get over it. I have nothing but respect for Matt [Jackson]nick [Jackson] and kenny [Omega]. I encourage Tony Khan. His name will be in the history books as someone who helped fund and support this alternative and the complete revolution that became AEW but for me, it was time to move on. I get a chance in my dream, and I had another chance. And you really can’t leave any effort unchanged in that.”
