Harry Styles ‘As It Were’ has the most weekly streamers of the year

Harry Styles had quite the week of release, to say the least, with the much-anticipated “As It Was,” the singer’s first single from his upcoming album, that hasn’t set a very high streaming mark for 2022 yet, and has broken some of its time as well. .

After its release on March 31, “As It Was” debuted with 43.8 million streams, the best streaming week so far for a song of 2022, according to Billboard. It also topped charts worldwide, including the bow at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 announced on Monday. “As It Was” is the first song released in 2022 to debut at the top of this chart, as well as on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart.

Sony Music has confirmed that “As It Was” broke the record for the largest single-day streams (8.3 million) for a song by a male artist in the history of Spotify’s global chart. It was also the most streamed song globally in a single day in 2022 so far with 21.6 million streams.

Last but not least, As It Was broke the Apple Music streaming record for most first-day streams for a song released in 2022.

The track also had staggering numbers in radio broadcasts with 27.2 million audience impressions and 10,300 downloads sold in the tracking week from April 1-7, according to Luminate, formerly MRC Data.

Globally, the song has also entered the charts at #1 in the UK, Ireland, Austria, Australia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and Canada, and has already claimed the rights as the best-selling song of the year in the UK

As It Was is the theme song for Styles’ upcoming album “Harry’s House”, his third solo album and first music release since 2019’s “Fine Line”.

The new, full-length, 13-track album was recorded at multiple locations across the UK, Los Angeles, and Tokyo in 2020 and 2021. Styles wrote it along with frequent collaborators Kid Harpoon, Tyler Johnson, and Mitch Rowland.

Styles is set to headline Coachella on April 15-22 and will go on “Love on Tour” to support Harry’s House in stadiums and arenas around the world this summer, starting June 11 in Glasgow.
