Rick Boggs shares video of his recovery from WrestleMania 38

Rick Boggs suffered a quadruple tear and a patellar tendon injury in WrestleMania 38 When his knee succumbed while trying to lift both The Usos in a SmackDown Tag Team Championship match. It was reported last week that Boogs has successfully undergone surgery on a torn quadriceps and in a new video shared to Instagram on Sunday the guitar-playing star was shown moving on crutches with his leg in a huge band and a brace.

Boogs debuted on SmackDown with SmackDown in May 2021 and immediately joined Nakamura. He faced off against Japanese superstar Reigns on the weekend of SmackDown and ended up being knocked out by both Jimmy and J Usos.

One of the biggest changes Boogs underwent when he jumped into SmackDown was changing his name from Eric Bugenhagen (which is his real name). The Boogs actively supported the change, even as other wrestling stars like Chris Jericho called it a mistake.

“I was definitely happy for the most part, and then the only thing that was negative is that you’re saying Rick Boggs is going to stop me with that name and I’m accepting that as a challenge. Because I don’t think so. I think Rick Boggs is going to, and he’s going to get over it a bit more. I think I’m taking that as, “Let’s see what we can do with that name [of] Rick Boggs. As of now. I mean, let’s look at the entrance [with] Shinsuke. right? I’m Rick Boggs saying like, What were we going to do with Bogenhagen in that sense? “My name is Eric Boo Jin Ha Jin!” I mean, maybe that could have worked, but I think Rick Boggs works better in that sense,” Boggs told GiveMeSport late last year.

“So, he’s had a lot of compliments and I’m very grateful for that, you know, I hope I can live up to that,” Boggs said. “I guess that’s what I’m doing and I just want to be proven wrong [about] Rick Boggs Steak”.
