Jason Lee talks about the ‘devastating’ cancellation of My Name is Earl

Jason Lee will reprise the role of Brody Bruce for the fourth time in the upcoming Kevin Smith movie Shafak Mallratscontinuing the story of the character Lee has played the longest (beginning in 1995 with Malrats). The character most closely associated with Lee, though, is probably Earl Hickey, the main title on the hit sitcom. my name is earl. The series ran for four seasons and 96 episodes between 2005 and 2009, then ended with the end of a cliffhanger. Due to the nature EarlSlope bets weren’t exactly life and death. However, fans were disappointed when it became clear that there wouldn’t be any kind of true accuracy.

In a new interview with Nine Club, reveals to me that she hit the actors the same way. Lee described the cancellation as sudden and unfamiliar, and had only kind words for series creator Greg Garcia, but was somewhat less benevolent towards NBC.

“It was really devastating,” Lee said, adding that it’s clear that fans aren’t done yet.

He told me, “Maybe 4 days don’t go by without someone texting me on Instagram, like, ‘Hey dude, what happened to Earl? ‘” Or some people think it’s my fault, like ‘Dude, you left us stuck, what the hell is this?’ Like, I’m not NBC, man. I did not cancel the offer. It’s out of my hand.”

“Greg Garcia, the show’s creator…what he’s done with this show is amazing. He showed up one day and said, ‘Hey, I have bad news, guys, looks like we’ve been cancelled.'” So it’s like, “Clean your closets” kind of vibe, and we’re out here.

my name is earl Starred by me and him Malrats Co-starring Ethan Supley as a pair of brothers and young crooks. When Earl gets a scratch-off lottery ticket and wins a small fortune, only to be immediately hit by a car, he has some time to think about his options at the hospital. After seeing Carson Daly on TV talking about the concept of karma, Earl decided he needed to make a list of everything he had done wrong to someone else, and make up for it.

While the series ended with Earl’s incomplete slate, Garcia gave the character a happy off-screen ending raise hope, his next series. In a short clip of the local news, it was revealed that Earl had finally completed his roster, although when the announcer teases “…and you’ll never guess how it ended”, the TV is turned off, and he likely actually got it wrong- cliffhanger world of the definitive series. The comic book series planned for the show world did not materialize.
