PlayStation releases a disappointing update for PS4

PlayStation has released a somewhat disappointing update on the PS4, and by disappointment, we mean it does almost nothing, or at least if it does, Sony doesn’t communicate what it is. If you turn on your PS4 today, you’ll be greeted with a mandatory 400MB system software update, dubbed 9.51. According to the official patch notes for this update, it “improves system performance”. How is this achieved and how much is improved? we do not know. That’s all the patch notes reveal.

Now, sometimes, updates like these hide features, changes, and additions that are being worked on but not ready for release. If this is the case, data lockers will discover a lot more while searching through files. However, at this point in the PS4 lifecycle, there’s no reason to expect any other major updates. However, the previous update, update 9.50, added Ukrainian language support and made some much-needed changes and improvements for parties. In other words, Sony just released a somewhat dependency PS4 update, so the console isn’t out yet, but at the same time, there’s no reason to have many expectations either.

If the PS4 were to get another update, it would likely be 10.0, assuming it has reached that point. PlayStation usually keeps big updates for important updates like “9.5” and “10.0”

Along with the new PS4 update, Sony also released a new PS5 update today. Unfortunately, just like the PS4 update, the PS5 update does nothing, or at least does nothing descriptive.
