ROH World Champion Jonathan Grisham injured during an AEW Battle of the Belts II

Jonathan Grisham successfully defended his World Championship Ring of Honor title at AEW’s Battle of the Belts II Saturday night, but reportedly did not leave the match unscathed. The ‘octopus’ was reportedly being checked for a concussion after his match with Dalton Castle was taped on Friday night, and it was later announced that he had been withdrawn from upcoming progression events in the UK (he’s the world champion there too) due to injury.

“Unfortunately, due to injury, Jonathan Grisham is medically ineligible to make the trip to the UK this weekend. Replacements will soon be named for both #AtlasWeekend events. Our hero will return to action in Class 134 on Sunday 15th May,” the promotional Twitter account wrote.

Gresham added in a video message – “Hello everyone. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to London this weekend for events on Sunday and Monday due to injury,” Gresham says. “I was not allowed to compete. So, I would like to apologize to Progress and the fans for not being able to participate this weekend. I really wanted to but my health comes first and I have to take a short vacation. Once my arm is cleared I will definitely be back and really looking forward to getting back and working with progress and performance.” To you guys. So, please keep me in your prayers. I will be really grateful. See you all next time, and thank you for your understanding.”

combat choice mentioned The injury occurred early in the match. Then Grisham was attacked by Jay Lethal, Sunjia Dutt and Satnam Singh after the match.

Gresham initially won the ROH title in The last battle Last December and defended it in promotions such as GCW, Impact Wrestling, Terminus, Defy and PROGRESS before unifying it with the Bandido World Championship in Supercard of Honor On April 1, he is now positioned as the top star in the promo, which Tony Khan bought earlier this year. Friday’s taping was Gresham’s debut in AEW programming.

Khan was asked during the Supercard of Honor press conference for any updates on the future of the ROH promotion – ie his TV deal, future recordings and pay-per-view. He was unable to give any updates at the time. Stay tuned for more updates on both the upgrade and Gresham’s status!
