The latest trailer for season 4 of Weird things A variety of exciting and disturbing elements appeared, including our first look at a humanoid monster, which series creators Matt and Ross Dover have dubbed “Vecna.” Dungeons & Dragons fans quickly picked up on this fact, given that Vecna is a well-established figure in this lore, despite traditional lore Weird things Fashion, the series took inspiration from the fantasy game and gave it its own personality. For those curious about the new creature, the minds behind the series have broken how the monster came to be. season 4 of Weird things The premiere is set for May 27.
Production designer Barrie Gower shared during a virtual press presentation last summer, “What happened is that he was exposed to basically all the environments and all the areas around the Upside Down for 20 weird years.” Entertainment Weekly. “So the look about the Vecna is that it’s human but we’re basically incorporating a lot of shapes, textures and shape from the Upside Down. There’s a lot of roots and vines and very organic shapes and fibrous tissue and what you have.”
Over the years, fans of the series have been introduced to all kinds of unsettling elements, including the upside-down dimension associated with Hawkins, Indiana and yet it remains a mysterious realm. In this new season, audiences will meet Robert Englund’s Victor Creel, a character directly related to Vecna, who moved to Hawkins in the 1950s and his life descended into chaos.
“What’s happening in [Creel’s] The house is pivotal to understanding what has been going on at Hawkins all these years,” Ross Dover noted.
As if Vecna itself wasn’t scary enough, the creature also brings with it some funky guards.
“We always like to introduce a new experimental creature, however you like, and so we were excited to introduce experimental bats,” Matt Dover explained. “Perhaps not one of them alone is so dangerous, but when hundreds and hundreds of them come at the same time, they are very, very lethal, and they also have the ability to act as spies, so you might not even see one in the tree, and it’s spying on you, and then all of a sudden because it’s all a phrase About the mind of a hive in the Upside Down, every monster out there knows you’re there.”
Weird things Season 4 premieres on Netflix on May 27.
