Season 2 of ‘Bridgerton’ beats Season 1 on Netflix TV ratings

All hail the Viscount. The second season of “Bridgerton” has removed the first season of the show from number one in Netflix’s rating of the most popular English-language television series of all time.

On Tuesday, Netflix revealed via its weekly Top 10 show that as of April 17, season two of “Bridgerton” has reached 627.11 million watch hours since its March 25 launch.

“After four weeks at the top of the English television list, Lady Wesledon is pleased to reveal that the second season of Bridgerton has climbed to number one on the most watched list with 627.11 million hours watched, ahead of Bridgerton the first season at number two,” Netflix said. “This is the first series of its kind to take first and second place in the most popular list. This week, the second season saw 66.61 million watched hours and was featured in the top 10 in 88 countries.”

Created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, season one “Bridgerton” grossed 625.49 million watch hours in its first 28 days on Netflix, the metric the streaming service uses to calculate its “most popular” lists. This issue put the first season of “Bridgerton” at the top of English-language television titles, but it’s still far from the winner of the non-English “Squid Game” series, which clocked 1.65 billion watch hours in its first 28 days. .

The second season of “Bridgerton” is famous for shifting the focus from the lead couple of season one, Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Denivore) and Simon Bassett, Duke of Hastings (Reggie Jane Page), to Daphne’s older brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and the romantic interest of Kate Sharma (Simon Ashley) In the second season. While Dynevor reprized her role in season two, and talked about her now-husband Simon as being off-screen with their child Auggie, Page exited the show as a series regular prior to the second season and did not appear in any of the episodes.

“Bridgerton” has already been renewed for seasons three and four at Netflix, with the streaming service confirming plans to cover more storylines from the Julia Quinn romance series of the same name.
