British star Little Sims cancels US tour, citing lack of visit

Little Simz became a bona fide star in her native England, but the conquest of America hit a snag. The popular hip-hop artist said Tuesday that she has canceled a US tour that was scheduled to begin in May due to a lack of resources as an independent artist that would create a “significant deficit” for her if the shows went as planned.

“Hi guys, due to unforeseen circumstances I am left with no choice but to reschedule my US tour,” the artist wrote in a statement. “I take my live performances very seriously and just want to give you anything but the best of me. Being a freelance artist, paying for everything that includes my live shows out of my own pocket, and touring the US for a month would leave me pretty helpless.”

Tours of America, which still has active ticket links on its website as of Wednesday afternoon, began May 1 in Portland and continued through May 25 at Webster Hall in New York, with stops along the way at places including That’s Nouveau in Los Angeles and the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York.

And she continued in her statement posted on social media: “As much as it pains me not to see you at this time, I cannot put myself in this psychological pressure.” “It’s important for me to get the truth about it and to be honest. I appreciate the love and excitement you guys have for seeing me alive. Rest assured I’ll be there soon, and I’ll be back bigger and better. Right now, I’m making and working on art and I’m really excited about it.” Music of course but other things too; all levels to higher heights.”

diverse She named her 2021 album “Sometimes I May Be an Introvert” as one of the top 10 songs of the year, in addition to her solo album “Woman” as the second best single of 2021.

Prizes were also coming the way for Little Simz. It won five BRIT Awards this year and took home the trophy for Best New Work. It also won this year’s NME Award for Best Solo Act from the UK Currently, it has been nominated for two Ivor Norvello Awards, for Best Album and Best Contemporary Song, as well as being awarded the Libera Award for Best Hip-Hop/Rap Recording.

Although not explicitly stated, Little Sims’ statement hinted that she would keep appointments if she was willing to compromise on her show with a bare-bones production. Her statement concluded: “A message to all artists and creators, Know your worth and hold your guns. I love you all.”

It is believed that her European dates this year will continue as planned. A representative for Lil’ Sims could not be reached for comment.

The artist’s website shows that she has booked steadily until the end of the year across Europe, including appearing at the UK’s Glastonbury Festival in June and the Leeds Festival in August. There was an additional American date booked for later in the year between her European outings, at Delaware’s Firefly Music Festival in late September, and it wasn’t immediately clear if that show was canceled with the May tour.
