George Lopez, pilot cast by Lacey Mosley, Kieran Deol; Kelly Park to guide

George Lopez and comedian Mayan Lopez on NBC’s “Lopez vs. Lopez” starred Lacey Mosley and Kieran Deol in recurring roles and set Kelly Park to direct, Variety Learned Exclusive.

The multi-camera pilot starring Lopez is described as a working-class family comedy about dysfunction, reconnection, and all the pain and joy in between.
Mosley will play Brookie, a co-worker and Mayan’s best friend who always knows what the trend is (and sometimes pictures of her feet). Deol will play Dr. Pocha, a vet who hires Mayan and Brookie who is better at saving pets than talking to people.

Mosley stars in Paramount+’s “iCarly” as Harper, and was a cast member on the second season of HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show. Her other screen credits include “Florida Girls” on Pop, “Single Parents” on ABC, “Better Call Saul” on AMC and “Insecure” on HBO, and she is also known for hosting the “Scar Goddess” podcast. Mosley is represented by the CAA and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.

Deol played Mallory Moody on Mike Shore, NBC, Cal Penn, and Hulu’s Sunnyside. She also co-developed “Attached” with Aline Brosh-McKenna and Sono Patel at CBS Studios. Film-wise, she directed the documentary Woman Rebel and is currently writing and directing Tidal Turbulence, a feature film. Deol is also a stand-up comedian. It is represented by UTA.

Park has directed episodes of comedies such as “The Neighborhood” on CBS, “Family Reunion” on Netflix and “The Big Show Show”, and Spectrum Originals revivals of “Mad About You” on NBC. Recently, she also directed Hulu’s “How I Met Your Father”, The Upshaws on Netflix and Fox “Call Me Kat”. Park also works as an acting coach on series including Nickelodeon’s Knight Squad and Alexa and Katie on Netflix. She is represented by CAA and Gang, Tire, Ramer, Brown & Passman.

“Lopez vs. Lopez” was written and executive produced by Debby Wolfe via Mi Vida Loba, with supervision by Bruce Helford and executive produced under the Mohawk Productions banner. George will undertake production as well as star in via Travieso Productions, with Mayan Productions. Katie Neumann and Michael Rothenberg of 3 Arts will also serve as executive producers. Universal TV is the studio. It also stars Silence Leva, Bryce Gonzalez, and Matt Shifley.
