Before the Washington Nationals’ home game Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, a lack of communication led to the evacuation of the US Capitol.
Bridges before an MLB game are nothing new. However, if you’re a Washington native planning one in Washington, D.C., especially one that involves members of the armed forces jumping out of planes, it’s probably a good idea to alert the higher authorities on the ground.
But that didn’t seem to happen on Wednesday.
It was a scary moment on Wednesday late afternoon when the US Capitol was being evacuated due to a “potential threat” to safety from an aircraft. Soon, it was reported that there was no threat and that all was well.
As it turns out, the reason for the eviction was a lack of communication from NATS that caused at least some consternation from the Capitol Police.
The airlift of the citizens before the game leads to the evacuation of the US Capitol
The Citizens had scheduled an overhead round for Wednesday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with members of the Army preparing to parachute into the field preliminaries. However, as WUSA9’s Adam Longo reported in D.C., the team failed to alert the Capitol Police, which is why they chose to evacuate the US Capitol.
This is definitely not a mixup you want on your record.
Fortunately, there is no threat to the US Capitol. Having said that, it would definitely be wise not to allow something like this to happen again. It’s not what you would call a good look by any means.
