New LEGO Atari Collection Leaks Before Reveal

A new LEGO set based on the Atari 2600 (also known as Atari VCS) will be released in the summer months to celebrate the games company’s 50th anniversary. Details about the LEGO console have been shared online by LEGO titled Promobricks with LEGO set to launch in August for $199.99. Neither Atari nor The LEGO Group has officially announced anything yet, however, official details about this set are yet to be seen.

bromoprex (via VGC) did not have pictures of the new LEGO set planned for August, but she does have other relevant details of who assembles these sets. In addition to a release date and price in August, Promobricks said the exact number for this new product will be 10306. It is not yet known how many parts will be included in a LEGO set nor is it known where Minifigures will be part of this package.

PromoPrix said that this new collection is supposed to be released as part of Atari’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The Atari VCS itself was released in 1977 and was later rebranded as the Atari 2600, so it hasn’t been 50 years since this console was released yet, but Atari, Inc. itself in 1972, which will indeed make this year the fiftieth anniversary of its founding.

While these details about the new set aren’t official yet, it’s likely to be a good indication of how much it will cost and when it will be released even if something changes a bit between now and the official reveal. Promobricks added that the LEGO set is supposed to include a reference to impasse! The game is too, but only details have been speculated about how the console will connect to the main console itself.
