Apple is actively removing outdated apps from the App Store

Enforcing strict guidelines in app stores can be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, users bump into fewer low quality software. On the other hand, developers have to check endless checkboxes and sometimes deal with unnecessary hassles to satisfy our tech masters. Apple is notorious for its relatively rigorous app review process. The company sometimes refuses requests for minor, meaningless reasons. Despite this, some malicious apps still go through from time to time and find their way into the App Store. However – in general – when Buy iPhoneYou get access to a better managed app store than most of its competitors. The latest (arguably unfair) guidelines that have gone into effect are irritating some developers – especially independent developers. Several reports indicate that Apple is removing old apps from its App Store, even if they are fully functional on the latest devices and iOS version.

According to several developers, Apple warns them to remove their old apps from the App Store if they don’t submit a new version within 30 days. While this strict rule makes sense for filtering out older versions, digging deeper into it reflects how unfair it can be to many developers, especially those behind games – rather than apps. For starters, the how-to guide does not specify the length of the “significant amount of time”. Additionally, it penalizes those who have apps/games that are still fully functional today – even though they haven’t received any updates in a long time.

So those with perfectly working apps will have to submit an updated version in just 30 days in order to stay on the App Store. Otherwise, Apple will remove these apps once the time is up. Given the outrage this policy is causing online, we can only hope that the Cupertino tech giant will re-evaluate and make exceptions for apps and games that are evergreen and fully compatible with the latest hardware and software.
