Netflix Nabs Yes Studios ‘Period Saga’ The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem’

Netflix has picked “Miss Jerusalem,” the Yes Studios award-winning historical series, in multiple regions, including the US, UK, France and Spain.

The multilingual series is represented in international markets by Yes Studios, the producer and distributor in Tel Aviv behind “Fauda”, “Your Honor”, “Shtisel” and “On the Spectrum”.

Set in the early mid-20th century, “Miss Jerusalem” is adapted from Sarit Yishai Levy’s bestselling novel of the same name, and tells the story of a family set against the backdrop of the Ottoman Empire, the British Mandate, and Israel. War of Independence.

Opened in 1917, the gallery sheds light on Spanish-Jewish traditions and the history of an emerging nation. It was produced by Yes TV, Dafna Prenner and Shai Eines at Artza Productions with a cast under the titles Michael Aloni (“Shtisel”), Hila Saada (“Beauty and the Baker”), Itzik Cohen (“Fauda”), and Yuval Scharf (“” McMafia”), Mali Levi (“The Angel”), and newcomer Swell Ariel Or who plays the title role.

The costume period melodrama is one of Israel’s most ambitious series to date, and has been filmed across the country, including at landmarks in Jerusalem, Safed, and other cities. It has won four awards at the Israeli TV Academy Awards recently, including Best Daily Drama.

The first season of the family saga will air on Netflix in two parts – each consisting of 10 episodes, starting May 20 and July 29, respectively. Production for the second season will begin in early June.

Created by “Miss Jerusalem” Shlomo Mashiach, Esther Namdar Tammam and Oded Davidov. It was written by Shlomo Meshach (“Your Majesty”), and directed by Oded Davidov.

Yes Studios recently appointed Sharon Levy, a respected industry player with over 20 years of experience in music and television, as its new Managing Director. Levi joined the company from ITV Studios-owned Armoza Formats and is now responsible for the distribution and co-production arm of Yes Studios. The company just won two awards at Series Mania in Lille with its romantic comedy ‘Bloody Murray’ which won Best Comedy, and ‘Fire Dance’, Rama Burshtein-Shai’s television debut, which won Best Actor for Yehuda Levi.
