Finnish horror movie The Knocking

LevelK, the international sales and assembling company, has starred in Finnish horror film “The Knocking,” the first feature film by Max Seeck and Joonas Pajunen.

The Knocking is about three adult siblings who return to their childhood home, where their parents were allegedly murdered many years ago. Their plan is to prepare the house and the property for sale but an evil force is trying to stop them from doing so.

Seeck and Pajunen said the “inspiration for ‘The Knocking’ comes from the Finnish forests, which provide an excellent environment for psychological horror and theater of a world that exudes somewhat bleak folklore and pushes the buttons of viewers’ subconscious mind.”

“Our job with The Knocking is to create a mood that enables us to awaken these fears hidden in the corners of our minds,” the couple said.

The film stars Pekka Strang (Tom of Finland, “Dogs Don’t Wear Pants”), Sana Koivisto (“The Serpent”) and Inka Kalin.

Max Sik is the best-selling author in Finland and has previously written six novels with the rights sold in 40 countries. Meanwhile, Pajunenn has a background in producing and directing hundreds of short films and commercial videos.

“The Knocking” was produced by Markus Selin (“Purge”) and Jukka Helle (“Grump”) for Solar Films. The film is currently in post-production and LevelK will premiere at Cannes 2022. Nordisk will be distributed in the Nordic countries and is expected to premiere domestically in February.
