Ben Schwartz from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 celebrates his record-breaking weekend

In case you somehow missed it, Sonic the Hedgehog was 2 It was released in US theaters last week and did very well in its opening weekend. The sequel made a domestic opening weekend of $72 million, propelling it to the biggest opening for a video game movie ever before its direct predecessor, previously titled. As you might expect, Ben Schwartz, who voices Sonic in the live-action series, is pretty excited about it.

Huge opening weekend at the domestic box office for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 This is definitely good news for Paramount. It was previously announced that a third film is on the way as well as a live-action series starring Knuckles, with the voice of Idris Elba, for Paramount+. It makes it more likely that the live-action franchise will continue to expand and announce more spin-offs and the like before the third movie actually comes out. (And the post-credits scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 It definitely means there’s no off-table character for the adaptations.)

As mentioned above, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 It was officially released in the US in theaters last week. The sequel sees the return of main cast such as Ben Schwartz as the voice of the hedgehog of the same name, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, a police officer who befriends Sonic, and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, the classic villain and scientist of the franchise. Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Miles “Tails” Prower.
