When Elvis Presley was drafted into the US Army in 1958, he thought it was the end of his career. But in reality, this was just the beginning of the next step in his life. During this trip to Friedberg, Germany, he met the woman who would become his wife: Priscilla Presley.
At just 14, Priscilla was introduced to Elvis at his temporary home by some friends in 1959. There, she watched the 25-year-old rock star play the piano and sing in a room full of friends. When he left the country a few months later, they were an item that couldn’t wait to be together again.
Soon, Priscilla received permission from her parents to move to the United States to be with Elvis in Graceland. And only a few years later, on May 1, 1967, they got married.
But in all those years, you never saw him perform live in front of a boisterous crowd. That is, until the following year, in 1968.
In 1968, Elvis returned to perform live and touring, and celebrated the occasion with a special comeback that was televised. Rather than being trapped behind the scenes, Priscilla was in the midst of it.
Priscilla revealed that this was the first time she had seen him perform live and physically, and she loved it.
She revealed, “I was in the audience and I looked at him and thought, ‘Oh my God, I have no idea! The star added how surprised she was to see the star working its magic in its natural environment.
She laughed, “I thought, ‘It’s really good! It’s really sexy! My God! “
Priscilla later saw him perform several times when he claimed his Las Vegas residence.

Priscilla said that Elvis would chase his audience, like a “tiger, back and forth” on stage every night.
She continued, “Wonderful. The audience was fascinated by him. He was so confident, but vulnerable, because he never took his audience for granted, he always wanted to be accepted.”
The star’s comments reflected the thoughts she had when she first met the king of rock and roll all those years ago. She wrote about star gazing for the first time in her memoir, Me and Elvis.
Priscilla remembered coming to Elvis’ house in Germany for the first time and seeing him talking with friends. At the end, she said, “Elvis got up and walked over to the piano and sat down. The room suddenly fell silent. Everyone’s eyes drifted on him as he started to entertain us.”
Priscilla added, “He sang Rags to Riches and Are You Lonesome Tonight? Then he sang with his Harmony friends, The End of the Rainbow. He also impersonated Jerry Lee Lewis, hitting the keys so hard that a glass of water set on the piano started to slide.”
“When Elvis picked it up without missing a beat from the song, everyone laughed and applauded — except for me. I was nervous.”
