Sunny Balwani brings $16 million to Theranos mansion he shared with Elizabeth Holmes

If you’re familiar with the apocalyptic Theranos saga, you may be familiar with the Northern California mansion where aforementioned enforcers Elizabeth Holmes and Sunny Balwani are said to have disappeared together for ten years. Now, the New York Post reports that Balwani has sold the home for nearly $16 million — double what it cost him to purchase Holmes’ share of the property in 2018.

His place in the Theranos soap opera aside, the accommodations is impressive. It spans over 6,800 square feet, with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms in the main house, as well as a one-bedroom guest house. The entire space spans nearly an acre and features luxurious touches like artfully manicured gardens, crystal chandeliers, and more, all in a French regional style.

The house listing does not mention her role in the Theranos case, and instead focuses on her luxury and privacy:

“On Main Street in Atherton, less than a block from the Menlo Circus, this house is a classic example of French provincial architecture. Above all, beyond the walled entrance, were rows perfectly aligned with London lane trees, formal gardens, and vast cobblestones.” The yard offers the ultimate in European design Completely updated with a distinct French influence, the design showcases lacquered parquet floors, art wall finishes, exquisite window coverings and stunning crystal chandeliers. Upper level suites, including a very private base suite, plus staff quarters or an ideal second office on the main level.”

The house was the subject of some attention during Holmes’ fraud trial. It was stated in court that she and Balwani had purchased the house in 2013 for $9 million through an LLC. Then, in 2018, Balwani bought Holmes’ stake in the property for nearly $8 million, which caught the attention of prosecutors as a potential “red flag” that could be Holmes’ way of shrinking her assets before holding her liable for financial damages surrounding Theranos. .

Balwani himself was set to stand trial for fraud and deception for his role in the company’s crimes. Holmes has already been found guilty of four counts of fraud and is currently awaiting sentencing – she could face up to 80 years in prison.

Regardless of all of that, it’s a beautiful home. And you can take a look for yourself in the video below, from The Real Home Tour, Inc:
