New PS4 and PS5 game free to download from PlayStation Store | Games | entertainment

PS4 and PS5 players who are out of play can download a hit fighting game from the PlayStation Store for absolutely FREE today. For a limited time only, Street Fighter 5 Champion Edition is available to download without paying a penny. Capcom launched a beta version of its hit fighting game on April 27, available to download from the PlayStation Store for an extended period of time, with the fighter being available to play for free until May 11.

This version of Street Fighter 5 will contain all the additional characters from Season 1 through 5.

So, along with the typical core characters of Ryu and his partners, PS4 and PS5 players will be able to play as DLC fighters like Rival School’s Akira Kazama as well as Luke – the 45th Street Fighter 5 DLC brawler which is a brand new character.

Capcom previously said that Luke will provide a window into what the future of the Street Fighter series looks like. So, if fans are curious to get a taste of what Street Fighter 6 will be like, they should give Luke a whirl.

Upon announcing the news, the Capcom Twitter account posted: “Download the free trial of Street Fighter V: Champion Edition from April 27 to May 11 on PS4.

“All Season 1-5 characters have also been unlocked during this time on PS4 and Steam – giving you access to 45 characters!”

The game listing says that some content from the full game won’t be available in the free demo, plus your saved data can’t be transferred if you end up buying it once the trial is over.

Fighter ID data can be transferred from experience to the full game. If you want to play online, you will also need a PS Plus subscription.

Street Fighter V is a PS4 exclusive, but can be played on PS5 via backwards compatibility. PS5 players may need to download and install the latest firmware patch in order to run it though.

Street Fighter 5’s free trial was launched just a few months after Capcom announced the entry of the next major line in the popular fighting game series.

In February, Street Fighter 6 was revealed with a short teaser trailer shown with Ryu’s beard.

Capcom hasn’t announced which platforms the new Street Fighter will be coming to, so it remains to be seen if the new Street Fighter game will once again become a PlayStation console exclusive or if it could also be released on Xbox as well.
