Alabama, Ohio State Main Responsible for Potential No. 1 Pick in 2023 NFL Draft

The race to be the #1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is already starting with football stars in Alabama and Ohio State.

Now that the 2022 NFL draft is finished and dusted, the 2023 NFL draft could come into focus.

It took 20 picks for the quarterback to get off the board this year. Next year, he’ll likely be a passer-by in contention for the first overall pick.

Already, the top predictions have been dropped with Ohio and Alabama, the two most likely to add to their number one spot.

Alabama, Ohio State QBs Top Potential No. 1 Pick Odds in 2023 NFL Draft

Here are the odds for the #1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, per bet online (h/t Jaime Eisner):

  1. Ohio State QB CJ Stroud (+200)
  2. Alabama QB Bryce Young (+250)
  3. Alabama LB Will Anderson (+300)
  4. Ohio State OT Paris Johnson (+900)
  5. Ohio State WR Jackson Smith-Nigegba (1/1)
  6. Boston College QB Phil Yurkovich (1/1)
  7. Miami QP Tyler Van Dyck (1/1)
  8. South Carolina QP Spencer Rattler (18/1)

Stroud and Young have been some of the biggest names in college football ever since they both entered the picture. Both started

Stroud supported the selection of former Justin Fields in the first round in 2020 before taking over as quarterback for the Buckeyes in 2021. He won national awards and is expected to put his team in contention for the College Football Playoff this season. If it follows, it would be irrational to advertise the draft.

Young has already won the Heisman Cup and is ready to follow in the footsteps of former Alabama quarterbacks who turned their college success into a first-round interest. He can be the best of the bunch when all is said and done.

Along with Stroud and Young, among the quarterbacks you should keep an eye on are Boston College’s Yorkovic and Miami’s Van Dyck. They are dark horses but have the professional skill set to keep an eye on.

As for Rattler, he was expected to be a potential first-choice last year and needs a bounce season in South Carolina to reignite that flame.

For those eager to see someone outside of QB taken first again, Anderson has the look of a generation player while Ohio State could put Johnson or Smith Ngigba into the conversation.
