Lloyd Webber ‘Kicked Cinderella off Social Media’ | theater | entertainment

Actors who performed at Cinderella’s party on Sunday at London’s Gillian Lane Theater were told it would be closed after the show. But those who didn’t participate in that day, including lead “Cinderella” Carrie Hope Fletcher, said they only found out about it through friends and social media.

Carrie wrote on Instagram, “I was only notified by other cast members and a member of the music team. I did not receive an official call from the company to let me know before it was posted online.”

Lord Lloyd Webber’s statement about his show said: “Not only has he received some of the best reviews of my career, but we have led the way in reopening the West End, ensuring that theater and live entertainment remain relevant and in the news. While organizing a new show in the midst of Covid represented Incredibly challenging, we have set the government’s feet on the flames throughout their change of heart.”

He then declared: “Now I’m really excited to be working on putting together a new production with[a production company]without guarantees for Broadway. A big thank you to everyone who was involved (in Cinderella), especially our UK fans who love and support the show. See you next March on Broadway” .

Actors who were about to take on the role of the new cast of Cinderella, written by Crown star Emerald Fennell, said they only found out via third parties.

Summer Strallen said in an Instagram video that she recently got a wig suitable for her new role as queen but found out the musical had been left out when a friend sent her an article online on Sunday.

Playwright and producer James Graham tweeted: “When your show became the face of ‘Reopening’. When you’re in complete control of the ad closing announcement, definitely make sure you hear the people working first. Definitely don’t write an article days before you tell them to the trade magazine. Definitely contact your reps.” .

Strictly Come Dancing finalist and chef John Whaite also expressed his sadness, as he was due to take over for Prince Charming in July.

He said, “I was so excited to join the cast, it was a lifelong dream come true, but unfortunately that is not the case now.”

A statement from Lord Lloyd Webber’s theater company yesterday said: “The schedule being reported online is incorrect. The entire company is operating [on Sunday] It was said in person after dinner. At the same time, RUG (a really helpful group) called or emailed them.”
