Ross directs Big Sean, BIA, YG, and Ty Dolla $ign at the Hollywood Bowl Bow

Rapper Ross headlined the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles Thursday night, performing in front of the largest crowd of his career to date. So far from his days at the Echoplex on the East Side of Los Angeles, a place that housed a few hundred, most impressively, he filled a 17,000-seat bowl as a freelance artist.

Knowing it was a festive party for the 29-year-old, surprise guests in the shop included Ty Dolla $ign, who appeared on “3AM”; and BLXST, who introduced Chosen’s song, which also features $Ty and is, for all Ross, his mother’s favorite song. She was also a guest of the audience and had a sweet moment between mother and son before Mother’s Day.

But the pivotal moment came when another Los Angeles star YG hit the stage, performing his hit song “Big Bank”. Soon, Big Sean joined forces to provide his outstanding poetry on the hit song.

Shawn’s “Bounce Back” came next, and his feelings clearly resonated with Ross.

“Listen, this big guy Big Sean isn’t really getting the proper props he deserves for being the best lyricist,” Ross declared. “People should really understand when it comes to his pens, wits, rails, and wordplay….Big Sean is one of the best companies that’s ever done it. Period!”

Big Sean responded with the courtesy, calling Ross “a legend in his own right, doing things his way.”

The song “Note To Self,” which featured Big Sean, Wale, Joey Bada$$ and Hit-Boy, came as Ross admitted he wasn’t quite ready to perform on the recording.

Other hits on stage include KATLYN, TikToker with 2 million followers signed to Russ’ DIEMON Records and featuring the rapper on a remix of the track “HANDSOMER”; and TDE’s Ab-Soul, with whom he has collaborated in the past on “Who Wants What.”

With the end approaching, the Ross brought BIA opener back to the stage to perform their viral smash of 2020, “The Best on Earth”. The song was released in October of 2019, thanks to a cosign from Rihanna, who posted her approval on Instagram (Russ raps on the first clip: “She knows what’s going on / I don’t have to be stupid / Tatted like Rihanna / Pussy sings like it’s Run the Town” ).
