Is Wilson Contreras a dirty player for the trophy check of Max Muncie?

Chicago Cubs catcher Wilson Contreras was caught with his hand in a cookie jar on Sunday Night Baseball. Thank God, Max Muncie was not injured.

With Muncie preparing to racket against the Cubs on Sunday’s ESPN show, Contreras seemed to be holding him in a delicate spot. The Dodgers’ second baseman wasn’t wearing protection in that area, so it took a while to recover.

Contreras was arguing that he was reaching for the ball, but instead Receive the plural form from that word. Jokes aside, was Wilson’s act intentional?

The veteran catcher doesn’t have a history of things like this – he’s no MLB’s Grayson Allen. But looking at the replay, it’s hard to tell what Contreras was heading for.

Cubs: Wilson Contreras grabs Max Muncie in a sensitive area

It’s hard to believe that if Contreras had any vendetta against Muncie, he would go below the belt. Contreras, the player who’s been hit more than most in professional baseball in the past few years, definitely wants to play the game the right way to avoid the same fate in the future.

Meanwhile, Muncie didn’t need an injury to a sensitive area adding to his early season struggles. With 66 at-bats, Muncy was hitting well under 0.200 with little on-site positivity. Despite his low hit rate, Muncy earns a base at a decent clip, and has a respectable OPS.

In fact, he wants the Dodgers scoreboard worker to reflect exactly that when viewing season stats.

“I like it when the scoreboards do OPS instead of hitting averages. That looks a lot nicer. It doesn’t hurt as bad because I’m still at the base. Yes, when you see the OPS it’s a little nicer,” Mansi said.

Maybe there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, after all.
