Phase 4 of the Marvel movies has already introduced a lot of new faces, and soon it will bring back old ones as well. Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster was absent in Phase 3 of the MCU and she is It’s back in power with some new epic powers like The Mighty Thor. right Now Thor: Love and Thunder Director Taika Waititi explains how Portman’s big comeback will mess with Chris Hemsworth’s on-screen superhero Thor.
Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson has been through a lot since he spotted Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. I mean, half the world slipped out of existence, for example. In the latest version trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, we see Thor going through a period of transition and a retirement of sorts. It seems that the universe has different plans for Thor, because in an interview with empire, director Taika Waititi says Thor is in a “real mind” when Natalie Portman returns to the picture, new powers or not. Here are the director’s words:
Eight years have passed. You’ve lived a whole other life, then the love of your life is back on the scene, and now he’s dressed like you. It’s really mental for a bull.
It’s time for a Thor and Jane reunion. I don’t think I’ve ever recovered from their breakup, which we couldn’t even see on screen. The fans didn’t really end that sweet relationship, and it really looks like they’ve been reunited Thor: Love and Thunder It will rock the world of Thor.
As Taika Waititi explained in the same interview, it was the desire to bring Jane Foster back from Natalie Portman that opened the window. To tell the story of Mighty Thorwhich is the superhero Jin after touching Mjolnir, who is somehow repaired after Hela smashes him in Motorcycle rental. Here is what the director has to say in this regard:
I didn’t know we were going to use the Mighty Thor character story until we started crafting the actual story. I was writing and it was like, “Wouldn’t it be cool to bring Jane back into the story?” You don’t want Natalie to go back and play the same character who’s walking around with science gear. You know, while Thor was flying around, she stayed on the ground, tapping her foot, “When will he be back?” This is boring. You want her to be part of the adventure.
It’s pretty safe to say that fans won’t appreciate a story about Jane that portrays her as just someone waiting for Thor to return. Jane with Her friend Darcy (who is back in WandaVision last year), are strong female characters who ride to greet the face of danger, even before meeting Thor. Jane obviously doesn’t need to become a heroine herself, and the fact that we get to see a glimpse of her transformation happening without his knowledge and shocking Thor in the trailer released is really cool.
Looks like Natalie Portman has taken her role as Jane through the centuries utterly tornalthough work training struggles for Thor: Love and Thunder. And I doubt I’m alone in thinking that the actress looks exactly like God (literally) in Like Jane Foster in clothes.
