Barbie has announced the latest additions to her Fashionistas collection, which now includes over 175 dolls, and fans have been loving it.
One of the new dolls has hearing aids, and the other a Ken doll has Vitiligo. The line is described as “the most diverse and comprehensive” of Barbie to date.

Barbie releases a hearing aided doll
Mattel’s Barbie Fashionistas line welcomes some new additions to the collection that now includes over 175 dolls, according to In a press release.
One of the dolls has a pink acoustic instrument that appears behind her ear. There’s also a new Vitiligo Ken doll and a Barbie doll with a prosthetic leg.

New additions to the collection, including the Barbie equipped with a hearing aid, will be available in stores from June 2022.

Mattel worked with audiologist Dr. Jane Richardson to help them accurately represent behind-the-ear hearing aids. In a statement, Dr. Richardson said She said:
“As an educational audiologist with over 18 years of experience working in hearing loss advocacy, it is inspiring to see those with hearing loss reflected in a doll. I am thrilled that my young patients see and play with a doll that looks like them.”
Mattel Executive Vice President Lisa McKnight She said It was important for children to see themselves reflected in the toys they played with. McKnight also highlighted how playing with dolls that don’t reassemble themselves can help children understand and celebrate the importance of inclusion.
She explained that the group aims to “reflect the diversity that children see in the world around them.”
Fans react to Barbie hearing inclusion

While visiting the offices of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) and audiologists over the years, I’ve seen a lot of young hearing aid users who are going to have more diverse toys that resonate and represent.”
Walk4Hearing, a nationwide event drawing attention to hearing loss and promoting the importance of healthy hearing, thanked Mattel for including hearing aids.
