Deborah James has become a household name in the UK thanks to her work in You and I and Big C Podcast she hosted for BBC Radio about her struggle with bowel cancer. She was responsible for spreading awareness about bowel cancer, and raising funds to support its fight. Now, she’s revealed to fans that she’s entered aged care, and she did so in an emotional message on social media.
The podcaster and journalist has been open about the different stages in her journey with cancer InstagramShe often smiles despite her difficult circumstances. In May, she shared the message that she “never wanted to write” after they “tried everything” and that her body “simply doesn’t play ball”. I participated:
Deborah James’ letter is sad because it revealed what she’s going through after ending active care, but at least she has her “wonderful family” around her and can focus on not feeling pain while spending time with the ones she loves. She fought long and hard and tried everything she could, and is now open to fans despite everything. continued:
Her letter also revealed that she accomplished something she had always wanted to do before her death by creating the Bowelbabe Cancer Research Fund to raise money for further cancer research that could save lives. She asked fans to “please buy me a drink to see me out of this world, by donating the cost” to the new fund. She ended her message with “No regrets” and “Enjoy life” before adding her name.
