ComicBook.com can exclusively reveal Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever No. 1, by writer Benjamin Percy and artist Juan José Rib, and cover by Björn Barends. The one-off anniversary connects Percy’s current run on the Ghost Rider while honoring the creators who came before it. Readers will also be introduced to a new character called Necro the Tattooist who will give Johnny Blaze a warning about his future.
“For Ghost Rider’s 50th anniversary, I wanted to do something epic, so I dreamed up a cause that directs and celebrates the unbridled legacy of all the creators and stories that have come before me,” Ghost rider Writer Benjamin Percy told ComicBook.com via email. “I did this by fusing a larger story—about Johnny Blaze nowadays—with smaller stories that highlight Danny, the Midnight Boys, Ghost Rider 2099, and more, and much, much more, including Never Before Iterations of a vengeful spirit. We’ll travel to the distant past and the near future, and the framework for all of this includes a haunting new character known as Necro the Tattooist. He brings to the surface the secrets we carry under our skin. Juan Jose Reap is the artist appointed for this anniversary issue, and he is particularly witty in conjuring up beautiful nightmares. Brace yourself: this case will leave its burning rubber imprint on you.”
Percy and artist Corey Smith re-release Ghost rider in February. “This is a back-to-basics approach that focuses (for now) on Johnny Blaze,” Percy said.
