The name Nova has always been an age-old mystery in The Walking Dead (and General Norman Reedus/Diane Kruger) fandom. She is now three years old. Krueger revealed the name in an interview with Personswhile considering having a child later in life with Reedus, who has a fully grown son, Mingus (22) with model Helena Christensen.
As Diane Kruger explained, a major factor in naming her daughter was her own history of having a name that other children made fun of (“Diane” is not popular in Germany): “I remember coming home crying because the kids were making fun of me by the name.” She felt confident in her name only after Krueger learned the story of the Roman goddess Diana. This experience made Krueger want to drive this sense of empowerment to her daughter:
“Nova in Latin means a new beginning, and a Nova star is constantly changing and reborn. And we love Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains, and we take motorbike trips there.”
Norman Reedus has made a second career path for himself doing the travel series Ride, filming his motorcycle rides and visiting many famous places, events, and people associated with biker culture. The trips through Tennessee apparently made enough impression on Reedus and Kruger to name their child after.
TMZ He approached Norman Reedus at the airport and inquired why he and Kruger now feel comfortable discussing Nova’s name publicly, three years later. Clearly Reedus wasn’t quite open to talking about it, but did offer a sneak peek into their reasoning as parents, saying, “She’s three, she’s no longer a little girl—she’s still a child I mean—but you try to keep things private as possible.” .
As always, it’s hard to draw the line between the beginning and end of a celebrity’s public and private lives. That streak has gotten more blurry in the age of influencers and social media, which is why it was so noticeable when a star like Norman Reedus (one of the biggest names in TV) chose to go too far in the opposite direction.
