One of the most ambitious horror efforts of the past decade is 2013 WNUF Halloween Special, a project that hasn’t seen a wide release before but has been slow to build a passionate following, as sequel director Chris Lamartina took to Twitter to show a short tease of the upcoming sequel. The teaser fails to provide insight into what we can expect from the project, beyond some isolated visuals, though for how long fans have waited for any glimpses of the next movie, any hint of its release is exciting. The original film was described, “For decades, mystery film collectors and esoteric movie lovers have sought it out, and now the search is over. Originally broadcast live on October 31, 1987, “WNUF Halloween Special” is a stunning presentation of the horrifying, supernatural activity set Uncovered in the infamous Webber House, the site of horrific murders.Local TV personality Frank Stewart leads a group of paranormal investigators including the Catholic exorcist, father Joseph Matheson, and a prolific husband-and-wife team Lewis and Claire Berger.Together, experts explore the darkest corners Webber House supposedly haunted, in an attempt to prove the existence of demonic entities inside. Did they find the horrific truth or simply put fairy rumors to rest? Compiled from the highest quality materials available, this Blu-ray features the complete program, including the original commercials that It was played during the infamous broadcast.”
To really feel like it’s a “found footage” part, the original movie didn’t gain a traditional version in the sense of teasers, trailers, and promotional material, but for how impressive this part is, the sequel takes a slightly different approach. La Martina has also previously teased the other ways in which the film circumvents expectations.
“What I would say is, so WNUF The movie is about how we consumed media in the ’80s, and is the sequel, which, by the way, “WNUF Halloween Sequel” is not the name of the movie,” La Martina previously revealed to ComicBook.com. The name will be revealed when people get their tape in the mail. But if the original was about how we consumed media in the ’80s, the sequel is about how we were consumed by media in the ’90s. I really think it’s like the beginning of the things we have now, with social media issues, or just excitement. It’s, in a way, the funny, exaggerated and sarcastic nature of the ’90s.”
