Blizzard Lawsuit Colleges That Allow Minors To Gamble In Hearthstone

Blizzard is now at the center of a potential class action lawsuit alleging it allows minors to gamble Hearthstone. Microtransactions caused heated debates for many years. Sports titles typically get the bulk of this backlash because they allow players to buy packs that give them better players and different items, which can lead to unfair advantages if they have a lot of money to burn. It’s also very frustrating as anyone can drop $20 and not have anything they consider useful. While a lot of non-sports games have moved away from loot boxes and packs and have taken the battle card model, it is something that is still found in other games.

Blizzard card game, hearthstoneIt is a very popular game that allows players to purchase packages. Now, Nathan Harris from Arizona has a I filed a proposed class action lawsuit In California Superior Court in Orange County. Harris filed the lawsuit on behalf of his son and alleges that Blizzard uses “illegal, misleading and deceptive” tactics to hearthstone. Harris and his attorneys claim that Blizzard minors allow minors to “pay real currency to gamble on winning in-game items.” Harris and his attorneys also claim that bundles don’t offer enough insight into what players might receive, resulting in players getting less valuable cards or cards they already have, leading them to shell out more money for better cards. The lawsuit says that under California Family LawMinors should be allowed to “disapprove contracts,” AKA, and get a refund. Blizzard has disputed all claims in the proposed class action and argued that damages could exceed $5 million.

As of now, it is not clear how long this will last. It’s one of many lawsuits that Activision Blizzard is trying to balance as Microsoft also tries to complete its acquisition of the company. Given the controversies that have been raised with microtransactions in the past, it’s hard to predict where this might go, but lawmakers and politicians have tried to crack down on the issue in the past.
